    Rheumatoid Arthritis treatment?
I’ve just been diagnosed with RA. I’m 2 weeks shy of 16 1/2. The Rheumatologist said there’s a small chance that this is just juvenile arthritis which goes away by the time you’re 17. But the fact that it’s this bad this close to me being 17, then most likely this is full-blown adult Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was wondering if there’s any forums for teens or articles about teens or anything that I could read to get some feedback from other RA teens. Please and thank you.

    MEPS and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis?

    Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (Still’s Disease)

Chronic, inflammatory, systemic disease which may cause joint or connective tissue damage & visceral lesions throughout the body characterized by fever, rash, hepato-spleenomegaly & arthritis in children.

It is a persistent inflammatory arthritis (> 6 weeks) that begins before age 16 for which no specific cause can be found.

Homeopathic Treatment for Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. It means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The homeopathic medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution etc. A miasmatic tendency (predisposition/susceptibility) is also often taken into account for the treatment of chronic conditions.

Please visit the following web-site and choose the medicines that are relevant to your symptoms. Homeopathic remedies are perfectly safe even while you are breast-feeding.

Kelly, here’s a link to the Arthritis Foundation’s juvenile arthritis fact sheet. Be sure to visit other areas of interest, located to the left on the main page.

The JRA site at Kid’s Health:

    A Yahoo! JRA support group:

Organized Wisdom’s site with five support groups and additional information on JRA.

JRA articles from the magazine, Arthritis Today. Be sure to look around their website for excellent information on JRA and adult-onset rheumatoid arthritis.

Kelly, I admit to knowing next to nothing about JRA. All I know is that the prognosis is different from those of us with adult-onset rheumatoid arthritis. I’ve never heard or read that JRA is a temporary thing. I do know from reading Arthritis Today that many children diagnosed at very young ages go on to lead rich, fulfilling lives. I don’t really know what to say — I feel so bad for you.

I do understand what it’s like to have RA, and the ways in which it impacts your life. A great rheumatologist can work wonders, as can a support group to help with the emotional obstacles you will certainly face. I’m sorry you have to go through this. Good luck to you, Kelly. Only the best.

  8. Candice M says:

What are alternative treatments for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis besides medication?
I have a moderate case of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and have been on pretty strong medications for it since I was 2 years old. I currently have a 3 1/2 month old and am breast feeding so I can not take any medication. I am in a lot of pain but do not want to sacrifice the breast feeding so I am looking for another option. Example: a special diet or anything???

umm if you can not function the yes very much so. a tens machine only stops the brainwaves from knowing that you are in pain.

Can a TENS machine help with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis?
I have had JRA for a long time and I found these things called TENS machines online and I was wondering if they can help JRA. I am getting really sick and tired of the pain and I just want my life back. If you know any other treatments please share. Thanks :-)
