If treated properly symptoms can go away and for quite a lot not return even in old age. However it needs to be treated correctly and so I would recommend going to see a doctor and being admitted to a specialist preferably the rheumatologist you had when you were younger as they would know your condition.
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis?
In February of 2007 i was 14 years old and i suddenly got juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. For about a year i the symptoms were really bad. than they got better and better until they nearly didn’t bother me anymore or even phased me. Now 17 and from time to time i still get a bit of the rashes and very rarely my joints start to hurt but it goes away the next day. I know its not “gone” but will it ever? am i going to have it for the rest of my life? will it get even worse again when i get older?
MEPS and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis?
I had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis from ages 14-18. I am 24 and have been symptom and treatment free for 6 years. Will this past illness DQ me on MEPS?
In answer to the question about rubbing the joint with a dough roller…it depends. I’ve had JRA since I was 7 and sometimes rubbing a joint hurts it and sometimes, it feels good. There are a lot of things I’m sure that can cause these symptoms. Stiffness feels like it is hard to make a joint move. And yes sometimes joints can hurt even while you are just sitting.
The best thing to do is see a pediatric rheumatologist, although they are rare to find in many places so an adult rheumatologist would be ok as well.
hypoparathyroidism. hmmm.
parathyroid gland releases a hormone called parathyroid hormone. this hormone stimulates bone breakdown. which means the inner part f your bone is broken down. and when the bone is broken down its calcium is circulated in the blood.
with hypo parathyroidism there is less parathyroid hormone. which means less bone breakdown and less blood calcium level. less calcium can lead to cramping and tetany.which means all signs of calcium deficiency you may encounter.
i dont know if there is a hormone replacement therapy for you. but calcium supplements will help a little. if there is a hormone for you then you will probably be injected with it.
Chances are really high that you’re having a flare or a relapse. I’d get to the doctor and get back on medication ASAP. 1. Will prevent joint damage that will haunt you later in life and 2. There is no point in hurting when you can do something about it.
Make sure your running shoes fit properly and have a ton of shock absorption. Get the extra insoles if you have to. And you just might have to settle for walking or biking; the pounding might just be too much for your joints. Sometimes, we have to make changes for long term good (joint damage in this case).
They told me i had rheumatoid arthritis now they say I have a hypo parathyroid?
Hi.
Ok For probably 2 years now dr’s have been telling / treating me for Stills Disease – a form of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
I have all sort of symptoms with like muscle pain/ cramps, bone pain, spasms that can be like super extention of a limb – i cant describe them properly but its like eI’ll be ok and all of a sudden one of my arms fly out so fast you can hardly follow its movement with your eye.
Anyway I’m in pain 24/ 7 and also chronic fatigue – due to the pain not fatigued making me hurt.
I also have hyper mobility where my joints over extend.
Anyway I got a 2nd opinion recently and he did all of these blood tests and said that there is no sign of arthritis whatsoever! He did find that i’m vitamin D defficient and Iron defficient and have an underactive para thyroid.
He said usually your calcium levels are meant to be low with the low parathyroid but mine are normal – but i’m on calcium tablets for a couple of years anyway.
Anyway we dont really know where to go from here now. We are going to see an endochrinologist but just dont know what else we can do in the meantime.
I’m in my senior year now at school so i really need to be healthy and that.
Does anyone know anything about an underactive parathyroid cause i keep finding stuff on over active ones but the ones on under active are all written in medical mumbo jumbo so i really dont understand it.
Has anyone had or been through anything similar? What happened to you?
Is there any foods or anything i should avoid or supplements i should take?
I dont really know what I’m trying to ask – but ANY information would really really be great.
Just anything you know that could lead me in the right direction.
Question about relapse in rheumatoid arthritis… please please help!?
I had JRA–juvenile rheumatoid arthritis– in my knees and ankles when I was a kid, from age 2-8, then I was in remission. I am 20 now and have recently experienced symptoms of arthritis–stiffness in my ankles when I wake up in the morning, my ankle and knee joints have been hurting, and they’ve also been swollen and warm to the touch. The onset of these symptoms was rather rapid. What are the chances that this could be a relapse of arthritis or a flare?
Also, I run 4 times a week or so, 2.5-4 miles, so I’m hoping that my recent joint aches are a result of this…. but I just thought I’d ask to see some other people’s opinions regarding arthritis. Thank you!
JRA- juvenile rheumatoid arthritis???
hello. i’m a 14 year old boy who gets pain in the ankle and knee areas while exercising, and on occasion some stiffness around the hip. if you had JRA, would it hurt to massage the joint with a wooden dough roller? is there anything else that could cause these symptoms? also, what does joint stiffness feel like, as i don’t really understand that term. would my joints hurt even while just sitting if i had JRA? thanks
