what are good ways to prevent RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS pain?
my 13 year old girlfriend has polyarticular juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in every joint in her body. the medications she takes aren’t really working for her. does anyone know any medicines, foods, techniques, or anything at all that can help with arthritis pain? she’s in so much pain, all the time, it breaks my heart..

    please please help us.
thank you so much in advance

i have it too. i’m 18 and i was diagnosed when i was 15. i had to quit rowing (which was my life), and i missed a lot of school on days when it was too bad in my knees and hips to walk around. i kept my schoolbooks in the classrooms so i didnt have to carry them around, and i was allowed to take the elevator to my classes. i’ve taken lots of medications, some of which made my stomach so sick that i stopped taking them. i’ve done physical therapy (useless) and everything imaginable to make it better. i know it was really difficult for my mom to watch me hurting like i was. it’s been better the past year or so, but every couple of months it flares up and the joint damage in my hands makes it difficult to carry things or unscrew lids.

somehthing i tried which i think may have helped was changing my diet. i’ve always been a vegetarian and the research ive done has shown me that thats the best thing to do. its also possible that dairy or gluten can make it worse. i strongly suggest being on a completely vegetarian diet and seeing if things improve over several months.

i sympathize with your situation, but as far as solutions, i can’t tell you any more than your doctor can.

I have arthritis. I know it isn’t as serious as RA but still very painful. I recently purchased a Circulation Booster from Ebay and it’s fantastic pain relief, has other benefits too and although not cheap,is well worth it………………

    Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain.?
I suffer Sero- RA, I have been in severe pain recently, to the point every step I take is complete agony, I cant get up or down on a chair without help, I use a crutch because I only have 1 for walking, I had my steroid Prednisolone dosage increased from 10mg daily to 20mg daily, I got given stronger pain medication due to the fact the Tramadol (Ultram) was as about as affective for me as paracetamol on its own, I now take Dihydrocodeine Continus 90mg tabs twice daily, I take Sulfasalazine 500mg twice daily for now slowly building upto 4 times daily, I take Omeprazole to combat the acid build up from the Prednisolone at 20mg per day, I take Ad Cal3 high strength Calcium and Vitamin D supplements, I take high dose Vitamin B,C Folic Acid and B12 supplements 1 daily.

But I am still experiencing pain. Today I even had to take more than 2 pain killer instead of 2 X 90mg Dihydrocodeine Continus tabs I have taken 3 so far. Although I cannow walk without my crutch the pain is still very bad. I am thinking of asking for the 120mg Dihydrocodeine Continus tabs when I see the Dr on Friday.

But is there any other pain medication I can take im in England? (We dont have Tylenol Arthritis over here nor do we have Vicodin unfortunantely), my Dr said he thinks im not quite at the stage for the second level Opiates like Oxycodone, but he says it is vey weird that the steroid are not reducing my pain. He said he would look into what else could be causing the pain, but could it still be my RA causing suh huge pain, I heard in some the Chronically severe pain can be debilitating.

It certainly felt like that for me the last 8 days. I even passed out from the pain which I told the Dr. I was even so tempted to get heroin t end the pain but lucky my mind told me wrong way to go so I stayed clear. The pain is the worse part of this disease for me now swelling is not much of a problem any more due to my steroids.

BTW my question on pain relief im allergic to all Aspirin based medicines, I cant take NSAIDS, Aspririn, Ibuprofen, Nurofen. I do use cannabis theraputically my Rheumatologist and Dr both know about this even doe its currently illegal fr medical use where I live. They acknowledge it does help people with Arthritis especially R.A due to swelling and pain managment.
Gentleman thanks for the comment, no I cant take Aspirin I have a bad allergy to all Aspirin based medicines including Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Nurofen, Anadin, NSAIDs Non Steroid Anti- Inflammatories especially Naproxen.

I do use cannabis my Consultant and my Dr Geeral Practitioner both know about this and it helps better than al the drugs the Dr gives me but it is not long lasting and I cant afford to keep buying cannabis, btw Cannabis is deemed to be of no medical value by politicians in the UK they lie about cannabis hence why they upgraded it to a Class B drug alongside illegal Codeine possession and Amphetamines.

I will speak to my Dr again tomorrow, he also has no idea about what Hydrocodne is, im going to give him a report my old Dr in LA, sent to me about it and how it is a good medicine choice for Arthritis sufferers. But not for long term fixes.

Just because you have pain and fatigue doesnt necessarily mean you have RA. Though it is surely a symptom. Usually they way of diagnoses for RA is with a series of Xrays and blood test. Also if you do have RA you dont want to see a normal GP doctor, you need to see a rhuematologist who specializes in auto-immune disorders which is what RA is. Also usually with RA they take blood test every 3-6 months and check your ced rate, which is how they tell how active your RA may be depending on the results. Also, Fibromyalgia could be an option because IT IS another chronic auto-immune diesease and NOT an “IDK WTF.” Though the difference in the two is RA you feel more joint pain and Fibromyalgia you feel more muscle or legament pain, which muscle pain can sometime be felt with RA. Next time you see your DR be sure to ask questions and find out whats going on. Good luck!

My sister has had rheumatoid arthritis since she was 23 all over her body. She went on drug therapy which she had a very bad allergic reaction to so she went off of that . It has gotten better with time since she eats mostly organic and raw and accupuncture has done wonders for her highly recommend it!

    Rheumatoid arthritis – alternative medicine?
I’m not taking any medication at the moment due to being on other medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Have an appointment for a specialist in September so my question is can anybody suggest an alternative for pain relieve in the meantime?
@wmayers99 ~ my doctor gave me a prescription for painkillers for a week as he told me that long term use of those ones would interfere with my other medication.

I do know diet can help as well and was after ideas so I appreciate the suggestions given.
I am leaving this to votes as I’ve had so any great answers

    Rheumatoid Arthritis?
I have been seeing a doctor foe almost two years now for pain and fatigue. I am taking medicine for Rheumatoid Arthritis. If a Dr. treats me for Rheumatoid Arthritis, does that mean I am diagnosed with it?

  10. Gentleman says:

As far as taking any sorts Aspirins type I wouldn’t suggest any because you should consult a Pharmacist first just to make sure that these medication can interact with the ones that you are already taking as well you may allergic .Secondly stay away from heroin unless you want to F …U. your life for good and become an addict .Thirdly you should ask your physician about cannabis . I have a friend that for the last 30 years has been puffing on cannabis it doesn’t take the pain away completely but seems to help . Try your question with your physician I would be scared to recommend anything as you are already on a lot of medication and besides I am not licensed only an observer and giving an opinion of what may be good to someone form my own life experience .
